No Fight

I went on a trail ride.  I enjoyed every moment.  That insidious fear never even tried to rear its ugly head.  To some of you this isn't a big deal, but to me it is the world.  I've had very few trail rides with that level of mental success and relaxation.
He learned how to stay on the trail.
He was fine in front, behind, next to, whatever.  Brave boy was brave and led the way most of the time.
Looking towards the mountains.
I had a grin on my face most of the time, heck all of the time.  My cheeks were sore from grinning.
Cutest pony ears
We walked and trotted and I think we will go again next week and include some gallop sets.
For you east coasters this is about as green as it gets here.
Seriously guys he is so brave and smart.

Video some friends got of the same trail area that I was in, I have got to get my GoPro fixed so that I can also make awesome galloping videos!  For all the fear that I have fought, I have actually gone that fast many times out there and in fact love it and prefer it!  Walking is much scarier, no joke, way too much time to think;)

  2. Omg! This is fabulous! So happy you got out without fear!!! I know I've mentioned before that I can get terrible agorophobia on trail rides in the open, so I'm right there with you! :)

  7. Beautiful scenery! I've found that taking my 'good' horse out that I trust more than any other makes trail rides much more fun - here's hoping the same holds true for you :)

  8. Yay P!!!! I get it, I don't think I breathe on trail rides until I dismount at the trailer to go home. And then I realize oh yeah, that was really fun! And my guy has never put a foot out of line on the trail...fear is a weird thing.

  9. Oh man- that looks like tons of fun! Way to gallop!!! We need to reconquer our fear here soon- the last time I took Ellie up I fell off- and not being super comfortable on trails myself has me putting it off.
BUT I love reading stuff like this- other rides conquering fears- I need to take a page out of your book!
